Amsterdam’s Reson8 haalt €5 miljoen op voor de bouw van spraak-AI-infrastructuur die resoneert in heel Europa

Amsterdam-based startup Reson8 has secured €5 million in pre-Seed funding to develop advanced speech AI infrastructure tailored for the European market. This significant investment, led by Balderton Capital, will bolster Reson8's efforts to build hyper-customised automatic speech recognition (ASR) models and expand its Europe-based hardware presence. The company's mission is to provide a foundational speech layer for Europe, focusing on accuracy, customisation, and data sovereignty. Reson8 addresses a critical gap in current speech AI, where English-centric models falter with the linguistic diversity of Europe. Their innovative approach utilizes small, adaptable "plug-in" adapters that fine-tune models in real-time using contextual data, enhancing accuracy for specific languages, dialects, and industry jargon without compromising performance. This allows for specialized models that accurately recognize medical terminology, legal jargon, and brand-specific language, offering a superior alternative to generic, less precise solutions. This development is particularly significant for European digital sovereignty, offering businesses a compelling alternative to US hyperscale providers. By operating its own European infrastructure, Reson8 ensures clear data residency and compliance with evolving regulatory standards that increasingly favor AI solutions hosted within the EU. The company plans to initially support over 20 European languages, directly tackling the quality deficit often experienced with non-English speech recognition.
