Berlin’s voize raises €43 million to use their AI companion to give nurses time for what matters most; care

Berlin-based voize has secured €43 million in Series A funding to expand its AI companion for nurses across Europe and into the US. This investment, led by Balderton Capital, highlights the growing interest in leveraging AI to alleviate administrative burdens in healthcare and improve the working lives of nurses. The technology aims to address the global nursing shortage by allowing nurses to focus on patient care instead of administrative tasks. The AI companion, developed in-house by voize, integrates with Electronic Health Records and is designed to fit seamlessly into nursing workflows. Its proprietary AI models capture complex medical language, understand regional dialects, and support non-native speakers, facilitating efficient documentation. Other European HealthTech companies have also seen recent funding, including XUND (€6 million), aiomics (€2 million), Qida (€37 million), and Clinomic (€23 million). This investment underscores the broader trend of digital transformation within the healthcare sector and the increasing adoption of AI solutions. The impact extends to both nurses, who can rediscover the joy of their profession, and patients, who benefit from improved care quality. The move also contributes to the development of European alternatives to US Big Tech services in the digital health domain. Voize's mission directly addresses the global nursing shortage, which the WHO predicts will reach a deficit of 4.5 million nurses by 2030, with Europe alone facing a shortage of 1.2 million healthcare workers.
