Originally, the e-commerce giant announced 978 job cuts for its Barcelona operations. Following discussions with the CCOO union, this figure has been reduced to 791, a 19% decrease from the initial plan. The agreement between Amazon and CCOO includes a reduction in the number of layoffs, voluntary departures, and the option for certain protected groups to remain employed. The office in Barcelona had a workforce of approximately 2,800 employees. The finalized cuts represent about a 28% reduction in the total workforce at the Barcelona location. This outcome highlights the impact of negotiations in mitigating the effects of large-scale layoffs, offering improved conditions and severance packages for affected employees. The agreement provides an indemnity of 38 days of salary per year worked, capped at 24 months.
